According to Mrs. Sanwo-Olu, our elders deserve to be celebrated. She pointed out that in other countries, older people get benefits like free healthcare and allowances. She said we need to hustle to make sure our elders get the same treatment here. She also praised the Ministry of Youth and Social Development for their work, and bigged up Orunsi WellCare Foundation for their amazing efforts.

The Real Talk From The Organisers

Dr. Ademola Gureje, the main guy for logistics at Orunsi WellCare Foundation, said that this event was created to fight the neglect and isolation that our elders often face. They gathered participants from government and private care homes, making sure that those aged 65 and older could come and enjoy themselves. This event was the first of its kind, and dem plan to make it bigger, spreading the love to elders from all over.

Mrs. Olayemi Oyedepo, a retired civil servant from the Center for Happy Elderly People (CHEP), couldn’t stop smiling. She praised the First Lady and begged the government to put more money into elderly care homes. On the other hand, Miss Faith Blessing Christopher, a nurse from Winiseph Care Home, talked about the challenges of working with elders but how rewarding it is to gain their trust and see them come out of their shells.
