The stage is set for the highly anticipated draw that will determine the group stage opponents for the Super Eagles at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) to be held in Cote d’Ivoire next January. The Confederation of African Football (CAF) will conduct the draw today at the Parc Des Exposition in Abidjan, the capital of Cote d’Ivoire. The event will see 24 qualified teams sorted into six groups of four teams each, with the top two teams from each group, along with the best four third-placed teams, advancing to the Round of 16.

 

Among the qualified teams, the Super Eagles find themselves in Pot 2 and could potentially face formidable opponents such as Morocco, Senegal, or Egypt in the group stage. The draw ceremony is expected to be attended by the elite of African football, showcasing the excitement and readiness of Cote d’Ivoire to host the prestigious tournament in the coming year.

t of the Local Organising Committee, expressed the anticipation surrounding the draw and highlighted its significance in showcasing Cote d’Ivoire’s preparedness and enthusiasm for hosting AFCON. Cote d’Ivoire, hosting the tournament for the second time since 1984, aims to exhibit its readiness to the continent and the world.

 

The Official Draw, as announced by CAF, will be broadcasted in more than 50 countries, attracting millions of viewers through CAF’s Official YouTube channel and global TV partners. The participating nations for the Official Draw include the host country Cote d’Ivoire, Algeria, Angola, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Cape Verde, Congo DR, Egypt, Equatorial Guinea, The Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Mali, Mauritania, Morocco, Mozambique, Namibia, Nigeria, Senegal, South Africa, Tanzania, Tunisia, and Zambia.

 

As three-time African champions, the Super Eagles of Nigeria are eager to compete for another title and make their mark at the upcoming AFCON hosted in Cote d’Ivoire in 2023.
