Joseph Aloba, the grieving father of the late Nigerian musician Ilerioluwa Olademeji Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, is seeking to bring clarity to the paternity of his deceased child’s son, Liam, through a Deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) test. The decision stems from a heated controversy among Nigerians regarding the child’s parentage, as well as other surrounding issues between the former Marlian singer and his wife.

In an exclusive interview with Stams TV on Wednesday, Joseph Aloba highlighted the necessity of conducting the DNA test in his presence. He expressed the urgency to put an end to the speculations and rumors surrounding the paternity of Liam. Aloba also sought to dispel misinformation circulating on social media, particularly in response to a post made by popular skit maker OGBCultist, believed to be a friend of Mohbad.

Aloba stressed the importance of ensuring the accuracy of the DNA test results and proposed that the test be carried out at two different hospitals. According to him, this dual approach would contribute to establishing the truth and putting an end to the lingering doubts.

“Concerning the DNA test, it’s a must they do it. Nigerians are demanding it. I heard rumors that they did it, but no matter what, I’m Mohbad’s father, so I’ll give consent to the DNA test or send anyone who can represent me during the test if I’m not there to know how they’ll do it. And even when they want to do it, it should be done in two different places so we can be very sure and know the truth,” Aloba remarked during the interview.

Aloba, who hails from Ikere Ekiti, also shed light on the cultural perspective, emphasizing that in his hometown, they do not accept “bastards.” However, he expressed that it would bring him joy if Liam was indeed Mohbad’s child, recalling a poignant moment three days before Mohbad’s untimely death when the singer shared a meal with him and handed over Liam for a heartfelt exchange.

In addition to the paternity concerns, Aloba revealed his eagerness for the police investigation process to conclude swiftly. He hoped that once the investigation was completed, the burial rites for his late child could proceed without further delay.

“I will call the police boss to know if it is possible for us to bury him. In fact, many have complained of seeing Mohbad’s ghost, and this is only possible because he has not been buried. I would really be glad that this is looked into as early as possible,” Aloba stated.

MohBad passed away on September 12, 2023, at the age of 27, prompting nationwide controversies and protests. Naira Marley, Mohbad’s former label boss, and Sam Larry, his associate, were among the five prime suspects named in the ongoing investigation. The circumstances surrounding Mohbad’s death have captivated the public’s attention, making the DNA test and the subsequent police investigation crucial elements in resolving the complex situation.
