Bandits Kill Five and Kidnap Five More In Katsina

Katsina–Tragic incident that unfolded in Sayaya village, Katsina, the local police have confirmed that five lives were tragically cut short, with an additional five individuals abducted during a ruthless attack by armed bandits.

The Katsina State Police Command, through its Public Relations Officer, ASP Abubakar Aliyu, made this unfortunate announcement on Tuesday in Katsina. According to Aliyu, the incident took place on November 6, 2023, at approximately 0055 hours when a group of armed bandits, armed with AK-47 rifles, descended upon Sayaya village in the Matazu Local Government Area of Katsina.

Promptly after receiving the distress call, police officers were dispatched to the scene, where they bravely confronted the bandits. A fierce gun battle ensued, ultimately pushing the attackers back. However, this valiant effort could not prevent the loss of five lives, with two others sustaining injuries.

Tragically, during the chaotic incident, the bandits also kidnapped five innocent people.

The injured victims were quickly rushed to a nearby hospital to receive essential medical care, and our hearts go out to the families of those who lost their lives.

Katsina’s Commissioner of Police, Mr. Aliyu Abubakar-Musa, expressed his deep condolences to the victims’ families and called upon the public to share any information that might aid the ongoing investigation.

The authorities are now intensifying their efforts to ensure the safe return of the kidnapped individuals and to bring the heartless perpetrators of this crime to justice.
