Single Mother Found Dead in Rumalogu Apartment

Bayelsa— Blessing William, a single mother residing in the Ogbumbada compound in Rumalogu, Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State, has been discovered dead in her apartment.

According to an anonymous source who spoke with the media on Saturday, the woman had been facing tough times. The source recounted the chilling moment when the woman’s son, after a brief visit, returned home to find his mother unresponsive.

The source explained, “This (Thursday) morning, I was in my house when the son was passing by. So, my mum called him and asked how his mum was, and he said his mom was fine. She then told the boy to go home, have his bath, and come back so that she would give him some money to get something for himself and his mother.”

“Twenty minutes later, the boy rushed back and said he had been calling his mum but she wasn’t answering. I followed him, and truly, his mum was dead. For three days, we had been the ones feeding them.”

This tragic incident follows the recent discovery of the lifeless body of a female student from the University of Port Harcourt in her Aluu community apartment in Ikwerre Local Government Area. It is also reminiscent of the shocking case weeks ago when the decomposing body of another female student, Justina Otuene, was reportedly found in her ex-lover’s apartment in Ozuoba, Obio/Akpor.

Efforts to obtain information from the Police Public Relations Officer, Grace Iringe-Koko, regarding this latest incident were unsuccessful, as she could not be reached by phone and had not responded to a text message at the time of filing this report on Friday afternoon. The community remains in shock as investigations into these tragic events continue.
