In a pivotal development, the Nigerian Federal government is presently engaged in discussions with key representatives from the Nigeria Labour Union and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) to address the ongoing strike.

This crucial meeting is currently taking place at the office of the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, where the Minister of Labour, Simon Bako Lalong, and Minister of State, Hon. Nkeiruka Onyeajeocha, are actively participating.

Noteworthy figures from the labor sector, including TUC President Comrade Festus Osifo, NLC Secretary General Emmanuel Ugboaja, and other prominent leaders, are also present at the meeting. The backdrop to this negotiation is the strike initiated by the labor unions on November 14, prompted by the assault on NLC President Joe Ajaero in Imo state on November 1.

The NLC’s primary demands encompass, among other things, the apprehension and legal prosecution of individuals believed to be responsible for the assault on Ajaero. As this dialogue unfolds, stakeholders are keenly observing for potential resolutions that could bring an end to the protracted strike.
