Community on Edge as Kidnappers Demand Ransom for Government Official

In a shocking incident that unfolded around 9 p.m. on Monday, an unnamed Lagos State government official was kidnapped by unidentified gunmen at his residence in Igbe-Oloja, Ikorodu. The calm neighborhood was rattled as the official, referred to as Jagaban, was seized by heavily armed individuals while approaching his home in Progressive Estate.

Having parked his car a short distance away, the official called his wife to open the gate. However, as he neared the entrance, the armed abductors intercepted him, leading to his forcible disappearance. The criminals reportedly fled through the nearby swampy area, leaving the community in distress.

Jagaban, a senior staff of the Revenue Department at Government House, Alausa, is the unfortunate victim of this incident. Government authorities have been alerted to the situation, and a police team is actively searching the vicinity for any leads that could aid in his rescue.

Reports indicate that the kidnappers have contacted Jagaban’s wife, demanding a ransom of N20 million for his release. Meanwhile, a sense of unease pervades the area as law enforcement intensifies efforts to secure the official’s safe return.

As of now, government officials have visited Jagaban’s residence and are in discussions with his family. The police, acknowledging the kidnapping case, are committed to rescuing the victim and bringing the culprits to justice, although the identity of the kidnapped official is yet to be officially confirmed.
