In a bid to justify the government’s investment in their education, 179 students bound for Russia under the Bilateral Education Agreement received a compelling message from the Minister of Education, Prof. Tahir Mamman.

Speaking on Tuesday, the minister stressed the importance of the students’ return as contributors to the nation’s progress. He advised them to maintain good conduct, focus on their studies, and establish a connection with the Nigerian Embassy in Moscow.

Represented by the Director of Tertiary Education, Rakiya Iliyasu, the minister cautioned against misuse of newfound freedom, emphasizing that the students’ behavior should reflect positively on themselves, their parents, and the country.

“Your selection as scholars is part of a broader plan to deepen the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” the minister explained. “It ensures that brilliant Nigerians, especially those unable to afford certain programs locally, are equipped with knowledge and skills crucial for Nigeria’s development.”

The minister urged the students to abide by the laws of their host country, be their brother’s keeper, and emphasized the responsibility that comes with being recipients of significant investments from both the government and their parents.

“As scholars, your return is expected to contribute to making Nigeria a better place by leveraging your new knowledge and skills,” he said.

The minister called on parents to offer prayers, sound advice, and encouragement, while reminding the students to be worthy ambassadors for Nigeria during their studies abroad.
