In a significant development on Tuesday, Senator Abba Moro, representing the Benue South Senatorial District, has assumed the role of Senate Minority Leader. The seasoned politician, having served two terms as a Senator under the banner of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), secured the nomination from the opposition party within the red Chamber and received subsequent affirmation.

Senator Moro’s appointment comes in the wake of the removal of Senator Simon Davou Mwadkwon, who previously held the position and represented the Plateau North Senatorial District, as decided by the Appeal Court.

Notably, the Senate had earlier designated the Minority Leader position to the North Central region. Senator Mwadkwon, despite being a first-time Senator, was nominated by the minority caucus. It is worth mentioning that the newly elected Minority Leader, Senator Abba Moro, boasts a previous stint as the Minister of Interior during the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan. This latest development signals a shift in leadership dynamics within the Senate and sets the stage for Senator Moro to play a prominent role in the opposition party’s parliamentary activities.
