Federal Government has unveiled the Startup Support and Engagement Portal, a pivotal step for implementing the groundbreaking Nigeria Startup Act. The announcement was made by Bosun Tijani, Minister of Communications Innovation and Digital Economy, via his official X account.

According to Tijani, the startup portal will play a crucial role in identifying and bringing together Nigerian startups, venture capital firms, hubs, and innovation centers. Its primary aim is to streamline engagement and support for all participants in the entrepreneurial ecosystem.

To kick off the process, the minister extended an invitation to all Nigerian startups, venture capital companies, hubs, and innovation centers to register on the platform. The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) also urged these entities to explore the resources available to them by visiting the portal.

How to Register Your Startup:

1. Go to http://startup.gov.ng.
2. Scroll down and choose your category: Startups, Angel Investors, Venture Capitalists or Accelerators, Innovation Hubs & Incubators.
3. Select “Startups.”
4. Criteria for enrollment include:
– Being a limited liability company registered under the Companies and Allied Matters Act (CAMA).
– Having a company existence of fewer than 10 years from the date of incorporation.
– Focusing on innovation, development, production, improvement, and commercialization of digital technology.
– Being a holder or repository of a digital technology product or process.
– Having at least one-third of local shareholding held by Nigerians.
– Meeting conditions outlined in the Act for sole proprietorships or partnerships.
– Being a tech-enabled business that enhances efficiency or effectiveness using existing tools, platforms, libraries, and frameworks.
5. Enter the required details:
– RC Number (Unique CAC identification number)
– Company Name
– Year of Incorporation
– Industry (type)
– Media
– Startup Description
– Company Email
– Company Address
– Company Website
– Founder’s Full Name
– Founder’s Email Address
– Founder’s Phone Number
– Founder’s means of Identification (BVN or NIN)
6. Submit your application.
