Hip-hop artist ASAP Rocky, born Rakim Mayers, is on the verge of a legal battle as he faces trial over allegations tied to a shooting incident involving his former childhood companion, Terell Ephron.

The incident, dating back to two years ago, recently captured public attention following the emergence of a viral video showcasing ASAP Rocky purportedly discharging a firearm in the direction of Ephron.

Confirmation of ASAP Rocky’s trial came on the second day of a court hearing, with the rapper set to answer charges of firing a pistol during a dispute with Ephron, resulting in minor injuries. Despite the accusations, ASAP Rocky has maintained his innocence, entering a plea of not guilty.

Facing two felony counts of assault with a firearm, the rapper could potentially confront a nine-year prison sentence if found guilty.

The charges originate from a clash between ASAP Rocky and Ephron, a former member of the A$AP Mob hip-hop collective who shared a longstanding friendship with the rapper since their high school days in New York.

In a parallel legal action, Ephron claims to be a victim of assault and battery, negligence, and emotional distress. He alleges that ASAP Rocky intentionally orchestrated a meeting outside the W Hotel in Hollywood on November 6, 2021, to address a disagreement, leading to the alleged assault.

Surveillance footage captured the incident, and a video circulating on social media reportedly features Rakim wielding and firing a gun. However, ASAP Rocky’s legal team vehemently denies that he is the individual depicted in the footage.

Currently romantically involved with music icon Rihanna, ASAP Rocky has ascended to stardom in the music industry. The couple, proud parents of two children, has garnered support from influential figures such as Drake. The rapper’s musical journey includes collaborations with renowned artists like Alicia Keys, Lana Del Rey, Skepta, Selena Gomez, and Kendrick Lamar.
